What does Web Design include

Web design is a term that encompasses many different functions. In fact, designing a 360° website means taking several aspects into account:

information architecture
the structure of the site
the user interface
user navigation
the layout
colors
the font
images and graphics

All of this concerns the final experience that the user will have while browsing the site, from the perception of the brand to the ease with which they can find the information they are looking for. It is related to the broader concept of branding and definition of Brand Identity.

Web Design must consider many aspects, to create a coherent and representative product.

Working on these aspects is essential to reinforce the authority of the brand in the eyes of users and employees who work for it. The more a site is well characterized, the more it remains imprinted in people's minds.

Balance between design and functionality

The person who takes care of realizing all this is the web designer. It is important that one knows not only the principles of design but also the limitations of web design. In fact, they must take care of graphically designing the site, making it as much as possible an expression of the brand it represents, without however making its realization practically impossible.

The creation of the visual part of a website depends a lot on the platform that you decide to use for the development of the site. Higher budgets allow the use of platforms that give more creative freedom, but that doesn't mean that even with low budgets you can't get excellent results.

Information architecture

This is the way information is arranged within the site. This is followed by the construction of an effective tree, in which the information is divided in a coherent and easy way for the user to navigate. From how the site is structured, as a result, you can also define the navigation menu.

The structure must be outlined in such a way as to make the user experience pleasant, with vertical and transversal navigation within the site being easy. If you create a complex navigation, it must be considered and consistent with the brand.

Graphic elements of web design

Web design largely concerns the visual side of the site. This implies a study of colors, based on color theory and the effect they have on the perception of a brand in the users' imagination.

But we also talk about the fonts to use in the logo - depending on the type of logo you prefer - as well as on the website, the use of lines, curves, or other geometric figures. Depending on this, a more elegant and formal, more dynamic, and modern, more serious, or more friendly style can be given. The options are plentiful.

The web designer still has to take care of the shape of the buttons on the site, the presence of photographic images or simpler graphics, the visual structure of the menu and every single element with which users interact.

All these elements must be consistent with each other, to give a feeling of unity throughout the navigation of the site. If you fail to do this, giving an inconsistent and disconnected image, the credibility towards the brand that the site represents drops, decreasing the Brand Authority.
